This is ME

Hey everyone! My name is Tina and I’m from Macomb, Michigan. I’ve recently moved out of my parent’s house this year and I love being on my own here at college. My little brother Tim is my best friend. He’s had a hard time dealing with my strict parents without me this year, but he will be attending Grand Valley in the fall. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my family. We love snowmobiling, skiing, fishing, backpacking, camping, and hanging out at our cabin up north. I feel like now that I’ve moved out of the house, the time I spend with them is more valuable, and there is less fighting over stupid issues.

I love hanging out with my friends here, but I’m also hoping to concentrate more on my school work this semester than I did the last. I think that it’s sometimes harder to buckle down and get work done when you live steps away from 20 of your friends, but I would never want to be separated from this amazing college life.

I am studying Pre-Med here. I want to major in chemistry and minor in Spanish. I am a lifeguard and I spend every other weekend working at a rec center near home in order to make my car insurance payment. My car is my pride and joy, along with my “nephew”. My boyfriend’s older brother and his wife had a baby back in September, so I’ve been spending a lot of my free time watching him grow up. I guess that’s it for now. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me!

I feel the same way about family now that I've moved away from home, too. Pre-med sounds really exciting too. What's the coolest class you've taken for that so far?

Enjoy your time at the dorms while you can, before you know it’s gone. I had a fun time while I was there. But don’t forget you are here to learn.

Livning on your own must be the life, I'm living in the dorms so I'm parially on my own but I can only imagine how it'd be to live your situation.

It's nice to see we have another pre-meder in class! Do you have an idea of what you want to specialize in? I must say, freshman year in the dorms is by far the most fun. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Pre-med thats rough. I was thinking of doing that, but i ended up changing my mind.

So your a lifeguard that's cool, i went swimmming yesterday it was fun, even though i suck and my little cousin's beat me when we raced.

Hey sounds like we have alot in common. Pre med huh? I guess I will have to watch out for you then! What chemistry classes have you taken so far? Im currently in 1220/1230. Also, how do you like living at Wayne?

Sounds likek you know how to have a good time. Ive never been snowmobiling, but I can account for doing everything else you've done. Life must be great living in the dorms, considering you don't have to put up with anybody but your friends.

Good luck with Pre-med, it can be very challenging. You must be loving college life, living on your own with out you strict parents. I have strict parents too but they would never let me live on campus, so I have to drive 40 mins down to Wayne everyday, it's not that great. Your just lucky.

It's nice that you have moved away from home. I don't think anyone really matures until they step out of the home. Good luck with pre-med!!

Wow, It's good to know that you are also Pre-Med, same here. Well, Good luck with your chemistry major. It was interesting to know that you like fishing, skiing and snowmobling.

Hey, Tina I gauss you too are having fun living on campus. You are going into medicine. One of my cousins is studying pre-med as well. How are your chemistry classes so for? Good luck.

Yeah family is definitely important, especially when you all get along and support each other in hard times. Good luck in Pre-Med, because it sounds like a tough major.

I like the fact that you pay for your own car, it shows independence. I guess your a pretty good swimmer since your a lifeguard.

My brother is the same way! He's only 5 and he cried when I left home. It made me so sad to see him like that. I have to go spend time with him every weekend to make him feel better. I love him so much! I see you and your family did a lot together! I like that. That is a really good thing! A lot of families need to be like yours!

Hey dollface,
I didn't know the rents were so strict. Let them know who's boss.

I was majoring in pre-medicine but I changed mine into Criminal Justice. I hate organic chemistry, not my cup of tea.

Thats great that you and your family are so close to one another. I understand how your little brother feels, I felt like that when my older brother left and went away to college.

I see that you're enjoying your college experience. I like college also. High school was fun, but college in my opinion is far better! It's such a growing process, and I can see that I've matured so much since high school. I don't even think the same anymore. Ya feel me? lol but the only difference between you and I is that you're on your own. So, when I grow up, I wanna be just like you! lol

Tina, are you still able to participate in some of those family activities now that you're at college?
